I have a new time-lapse video up on my YouTube channel! It’s been a while since I have put one together so I thought I would take the opportunity to try something new. A style that I wanted for my videos when I first started making YouTube videos but just wasn’t quite sure how to put together at the time. I wanted to create something different then the ordinary run of the mill drawing time-lapse but couldn’t quite place it.
The inspiration for this was from my recent trip to Japan, I spent much of my time absorbed in the beauty of their shrines and temples. The way the architecture and surrounding gardens are put together to create a truly peaceful and calming experience. The omamori is a a traditional Japanese fortune that you can buy from the temples; each representing a different type of good fortune or good luck.
In this video I added more of the process in real time and sped up some parts of the line work process. For this video I also left the music out to keep natural studio art sounds, to create an ambience for creating art in my home studio setting. Usually I do listen to a range of music or have a TV show running in the background, by choosing this approach I am trying to challenge myself and push myself to tell a story through video and practising and learning new video editing skills.
What do you think of the new style?
